FATMS HAX MOD by nOspoonX is fully compatible with PSP-1000 models. I don't own a PHAT / Fat / PSP-1000 model anymore so here's a comment from greg...

It is what it is… I dug up my PSP-1000, loaded 5.50 GEN-D2, ran the installer for this fatmsmod hack job, and yeah — memory stick access is faster. I’m slapping the Dashhacks Seal of Approval on this one. Try it.

And you gotta love that seal there... nice one!
