File:Dop-IOS_MOD.pngFile:Dop-IOS_MOD.pngFile:Dop-IOS_MOD.png

Dop-IOS MOD is a modification of the application Dop-IOS that allows you to choose which IOS you would like to use to install other IOSs (with the trucha bug if you like), channels, and system menus. • Added automatic region detection
  • Added code from Trucha Bug Restorer so you can go through a short process to install an IOS (IOS 36) that accepts fakesigning if you need one

Is your PSP Hackable?

models
While waiting for MaGiXieN and the rest of fine people from pspgen, wololo and his company delighted us with some information regarding on our beloved PSPs...

If you own a PSP that you bought recently and haven’t been following the news lately yet are interested in unlocking your PSP, the whole PSP scene certainly looks like a huge mess to you, and you probably have no clue if your PSP’s hackable or not. Things have been moving quite fast recently, so expect things to change soon, but here is the current state of PSP’s “hackingability” :
The following are the details for each model.
HIDDEN SPOILER

PSP Phat and PSP2000 (except ta88v3)

If you own a PSP Phat (PSP-1000), or a PSP Slim (PSP 2000) that is NOT a Ta88v3, then your PSP, independently of its firmware, is 100% hackable with a pandora battery. It’s been the case for many months now, and it will not change as the exploit used for the pandora batteries is a hardware exploit and cannot be fixed with a new firmware.

PSP-3000 and TA88v3, Firmware 5.03 and below

If you are the unlucky owner of a “doomed” motherboard, but happen to have a firmware 5.03 or below, your PSP is “half-hackable” through the laughing man tiff exploit and the associated Homebrew Enabler, better known as “ChickHEN”. “half-hackable” means that your PSP can have all the features of fully hackable PSPs (homebrew, plugins, customizable themes, ISOs,…), but unlike fully hacked PSPs, if your hard-reboot your PSP, you’ll have to run the hack again. (For those who still don’t know, putting your PSP in sleep mode works fine and is the best thing to do to keep the HEN in Ram)

PSP-3000 and TA88v3, Firmware 5.50 and above

There is no “public” way to hack these PSPs currently. However lots of exploits have been made public in the past weeks, giving developers enough material to actually work on solutions for these models. A user exploit in the Game Archer Maclean’s Mercury exists up to firmware 6.10. A user exploit in the Game Medal of Honor Heroes (including Medal Of honor heroes 2) exists up to firmware 5.55. The Kernel exploit used in ChickHEN exists up to firmware 5.50, but (is not usable from a user exploit in a game). A Kernel exploit revealed by MathieuLH exists up to firmware 5.55. Team Typhoon revealed the existence of a kernel exploit up to at least firmware 6.10, but didn’t make it public. Technically, with the current public available info, these PSPs could be hacked up to firmware 6.10 for Homebrew through the Mercury Game, and up to firmware 5.55 for HEN (isos, plugins,…) through the kernel exploit revealed by MathieuLH

PSP Go

There is no “public” way to hack these PSPs currently. The PSPGo cannot technically use exploits in games. Well…it can, but as soon as a game is hacked, it gets patched. So either you own a hackable version of the game and can use it, either you’re screwed. The general idea is that we cannot use games as a “good” user exploit source for the PSPGo. Exploits still exist though, and most of the time kernel exploits valid for a given firmware will work on the PSPGo, so it’s only a matter of finding a user exploit in the XMB rather than in a game.

Vocabulary:
Homebrew: User made (non official) applications. These include games such as Wagic, utilities, emulators…

ISO: In the PSP world, digital copy of a game, most of the time unencrypted, preventing it from running on an Official firmware. ISOs are often associated to game piracy.

plugin: Homebrews that are loaded in the Ram of the PSP to extend its functionalities. For example, the music plugin allows to play MP3s while playing a game or a homebrew on the PSP.

HEN: Homebrew ENabler. A program that patches the PSP Ram to allow running unsigned code (Homebrews). unlike eLoader, a HEN is in the Ram and therefore doesn’t require to be launched everytime you want to run unsigned code. To do this a HEN usually requires a Kernel exploit.

TA88v3 :A Model of Motherboard that was introduced on the PSP2000 in summer 2008. It fixes the vulnerability used by the pandora batteries. Several techniques exist to identify your PSP Motherboard. If you have a PSP 2000, the easiest way to identify if it has a “doomed” motherboard is to try a pandora kit (battery + memory stick) on it.

Note: Firmware 5.05 has been intentionally not mentioned as it was released to a very limited number of people.

Wagic Theme “Final Saga”

"Sometimes, the result is not only brilliant, it is awesome"! Great explanation there...

This is the case of the Theme “Final Saga” posted by Ilya B yesterday. I was amazed to see such a gorgeous and coherent theme. Pretty much all graphics have been redone, and the theme includes some really cool avatars. It’s not difficult to do better than the current default avatars in Wagic, but these ones are truly excellent. This is now the Theme I use on my PSP

How to install:
  1. Download the theme here and put it in your “WTH/Res/themes” folder
  2. Launch the game, and in the options > user, select the “Final Saga” Theme
  3. There is a bug currently with fonts in Wagic 0.9.1, so if you want the theme fonts (I highly recommend them), download this additional file and extract it into your Res/graphics folder
Don’t hesitate to say thanks to Iliya B for this awesome work. And use the opportunity to browse the forums for extra contents

Solitaire v0.1.2 for PSP

Here's madman 666 with an update on Solitaire for PSP v0.1.2. It's only in beta but check out the game and you'll be spendin' time there...

FATMS HAX MOD for 5.50 GEN-D2 R2: Memory Stick Speed Up Hack

FATMS HAX MOD by nOspoonX is fully compatible with PSP-1000 models. I don't own a PHAT / Fat / PSP-1000 model anymore so here's a comment from greg...

Dashhacks Seal of Approval
It is what it is… I dug up my PSP-1000, loaded 5.50 GEN-D2, ran the installer for this fatmsmod hack job, and yeah — memory stick access is faster. I’m slapping the Dashhacks Seal of Approval on this one. Try it.

And you gotta love that seal there... nice one!

uLoader v3.2

Hermes has released a update to uLoader, a usb loader for the Nintendo Wii that is based on Kwiirk's YAL and Waninkoko's Wii usbloader that tries to give support to both custom IOS (cIOS222 and cIOS249) to launch backups from USB mass storage devices with a graphical user interface similar to Wii channel interface.

Changes:
  • Added support for cover from wiitdb.com. He has been a slight problem Josete said just above, that apparently does not return error if you do not find the cover art, but nothing that can not be solved with a small check (now have 3 pages from which to download album art)
  • Fixed some minor reported bugs and changed the selection pointer (he ran the scroll to the skull [+ laughter])
  • Added support for BCA data, which as you know is the new protection system included in the NSMB (New Super Mario Bros for those who do not like abbreviations) and surely we will find in the new games from now
1) Added ioctl 0xda in dip_plugin, which is what is responsible for reading the data. BCA data are 64 bytes that can be read with this function in the original DVD, so since we have the possibility dip_plugin simulate or read data from the original DVD (it depends on an internal table normally contains zeros if a byte is set to a different value, simulated and if not, is read with the original function)

2) The data BCA (64 bytes) can store from the offset 0x100. Iso or from offset 0x8100 into. CISO normally raise it before the hard disk. This position is normally filled with zeros, as it is an unused area at the top of the DVD (I did not supply any useful to add, since I use WinHex and not worth it, but if a developer wants to have fun, there is a task done XD). By default, if this area is zero, uLoader uses a BCA data are compatible with the NSMB, so no need to patch. It adds the ability to add data BCA in the iso so that you can pass the correct data from your original if the security becomes more "demanding".
ATTENTION: The editor of BCA data flatmod added in the last sector. Iso. This method is not supported since uLoader

3) With new iocl not need none of the patches used Josete and can say that the system works well, both HDD and from DVD, with and without chip (so that my 8-legged spider, with disconnect a I can prove this and also have it out XD)

4) The BCA data is recorded in a special way in the original DVD, so that from the DVD mode has added a feature to display the string in hexadecimal format (they are 64 bytes in total). Remember that the copies do not contain such data, so the function may return error (would not be an option to display data) or trash. These data can point to hand and then add them to the. Iso using hex editor

5) Because it is possible to obtain BCA wrong, has not included any option to automate the process of installing games from the Wii itself and for the moment, does not include any option to add them to your hands (for the moment this option is unnecessary)

And that's more or less everything, hermes.

Wii Unbricking 101: Unsoldering, Using Betwiin...for advance and serious Wii Unbrickers

Ready to take apart that Bricked Wii? pspmte posted at gbatemp what he have come up to fix 3 Wiis.

Items Required:
  1. An Infectus
  2. A TSOP socket 40A (Farnell part number 109-5884)
  3. A Triwing screwdriver
  4. Solder/Desolder
  5. To know what Broadway chip you have, such as 5070 or 5048.
  6. A Hex Editor
  7. Betwiin
The guide:

First, take the Wii apart, and unsolder the NAND chip from the board and install it to your Infectus with Socket, I had spent forever trying to hardwire the Infectus to the Wii's NAND but had failed.

Now we need to install Bootmii by Team Twiizers to your Wii, I used Soft-Xavbox-Programmer to install a Boot1b Boot2v3 Bootmii (My broadway ID was 5070) and then I proceeded to flash the NAND blocks 0-8.

Now carefully resolder the NAND back on the Wii's board and half build the Wii using the heat sink, Bluetooth and Wifi card and power on the Wii with the appropriate Bootmii files on the SD card, you should be in Bootmii.

Use Bootmii to make a NAND backup, as we need the HMAC and NAND key to fix the Wii. Now take out the SD card and open the NAND.bin with WinHex (I also reccomend making a backup on your PC) and get the keys, and save the last 1024 bytes of the file as you will need this later.

The HMAC-key is 20 bytes on $21000144
The NAND-key is 16 bytes on $21000158

Save the keys to Betwiin's output folder and then when Betwiin is done you should have a flash.bin file.

Open the flash.bin file in WinHex and add the last 1024 bytes from NAND.bin to it.

Open NAND.bin and copy 250 pages starting at $0 and then paste it to flash.bin starting at $0.

Save the file as NAND.bin an copy to your SD card, and restore it with Bootmii.

Your Wii should be fixed!
