Hear !t

Enjoyed Turn !t much? It's time to put that aside now and make room for the latest installment in the !t series from Preyker with a little GFX help from his buddy -blue7.

Hear !t is my very new homebrew i picked up some help for as well this time. It's "-blue7" that helped me out with the GFX stuff, so i could completely focus on the code. Please keep in mind, that "Hear !t" was just another participant homebrew for the third PSPKING.DE Coding Competition, so this had to be created within just three days as well (yh, our contests are somewhat exciting due to the little time you have

I reckon with this one you'll have to hear the cues this time in order to solve the puzzle (USB port is busted, to those wondering why I don't check out the brew myself). Help me out and tell us what's in it, will you?

How To: Disk Channel Loading Without CIOSCORP

PSP Playground resident VettaCossX-AlphA shares us a little guide on how to load back ups on Disk Channel Without CIOSCORP.

Remove all regions skip update check fix bug
Region free games fix bug
Move disc channel add
No background sound add
No copy save game protection
Healthwarning with no backmenu
Channel almost hidden, smaller size
Added screen at POClauncher

To get this to work, all you need is Preloader and the files listed below.
PAL and NTSC compatible

Aquilino Pack (MediaFire)
http://www.mediafire.com/file/yt5ioyonjxz/Aquilino%20Loader%20(1).rar

1. Get FS Browser and get the 10000043.app or 10000046.app (copy it to the SD card you will find it under /title/00000001/00000002/content/1000000[43/46].app) thx icefireicefire
2. It should now be at the root of you SD card, rename it to sysmenu.dol
3. Install the Aquilino Menu Patcher Channel with Wad Manager (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WANINKOKOS CUSTOM IOS36 R.7 NOT WIIGATORS IF YOU GET AN ERROR!)
4. Put the Auto Loader dol to the root of your SD card
5. In Preloader select install/load dol and install it, in settings set Preloader to autoboot dol
6. And you have Loading through the disk channel without patching all you IOS's or patching IOS 30

This Auto Loads a patched System Menu which you can play backups through the disk channel

aquilino and I have no responsibility if you brick your Wii, you install this at your own risk. biggrin.gif

**If you upgraded to the newest Preloader, get your latest 10000043.app or 10000046.app again.

Despertar del Cementerio v8 Mod for OFW 5.55

dc8 - Image 1

The Red Bull PSP team has released a new mod for Despertar del Cementerio, the "Universal Unbricker" from Dark AleX. This time, the team has created a DC mod for the official PSP firmware 5.55 that allows you to test the firmware without the UMD.

Developer's note: (translated)

Already in the menu of the DC, do not press the first option (Install 5.00 M33) and to actually install the firmware 5.55 with the modules M33 and ipl, it would have a brick. However, if you want to test the firmware 5.55 official press in the second option (Install 5.55 OFW) and this will install correctly. With this DC OFW 5.55 can be installed in flash, and emulate 5.00 M33-4 from the memory stick. If you want to have installed the 5.00 M33-4 in the flash, take the resurrection.prx of update folder and copy to TM-> DC8-> kd replacing by the existing one. Then in the menu, select the option "Install 5.00 M33".

Installation:
  • Copy the update folder in PSP-> GAME
  • Creates the eboot to 5.55 yourself with PBP unpacked by example and put it in the root of the memory renamed to 555.PBP.
  • Put the eboot of 5.00 and put it in the root renamed to 500.PBP.
  • Run the software.

DaedalusX64 Alpha Revision 429

DaedalusX64 Team has updated Nintendo 64 emulator for the Sony PSP.

Upgrade Procedure: Grab the link and unzip it. Delete all *.hle files(in SaveGames) as well as preferences.ini and rom.db from your memory stick. These files (*.hle, rom.db, and preferences.ini) are rebuilt when you use the software and are version specific. Then you can copy it to your current folder on your PSP and overwrite all the old files. Now you are guaranteed to be starting fresh.

PSP Adhoc IM v1

Lets say you and your hombre are chilling in class, or wherever for that matter, and you’re both sporting PSPs. Some hottie walks past and in attempt to look inconspicuous you motion to your buddy. She sees you, and then you both get slapped out. This all could have been avoided with qwikrazor87’s PSP Adhoc IM. In a stealth-like manner beam a midair message directly to your friend, “Hottie at 6 o’clock. Make a move.” It’s all gravy from there.

Dawn Mod for CSPSP

dawn - Image 1

Homebrew coder SpartanX2X has dropped by our forums to release a new mod for the ever-popular homebrew game CSPSP called, Dawn. According to the dev, this mod is a total conversion of CSPSP without the source and features various hex editing, new GFX and sounds. The Dawn is also a disk saver because its the first interchangeable mod, meaning you don't have to redownload maps when you switch to other mods.

The premise of dawn is simple. The year is 2023, the gangs of New York have allied to form a crime Syndicate. Their goal is to slowly expand their territory and control as much of New York as possible. They have been winning battles against the military, so the government has set up a new unit. The ASU (Anti-Syndicate Unit). The ASU is comprised of the most elite soldiers from around the country. Unfortunately, they are few in numbers due to this. Thus they frequently receive help from local authorities and the military.

The CSPSPC Dawn release contains dawn and the ORIGINAL CSPSP. If you wish to switch it out for another mod, simply copy the contents of the mods folder into the "Dawn mod 4 CSPSP v1.0" folder under "PSP", then edit the "MODS.TXT" in the CSPSPC folder (which is in the game folder) to include your mod!

There are a few things I must warn you about though, due to some error on my end, DO NOT RENAME THE DAWN FOLDER. I am not sure why, but if you rename the folder, the game will not work. The same goes for the CSPSPC version of it, leave the folder names exactly how I have them. The names may seem too long for some, but that's just the way it is, at the moment there is nothing I can do about it.

Warning about Bootmii beta 3!

mattjd gives us some information regarding BootMii beta 3:

To fix the bootmii beta3 Nand dumps so it will work with Restoremii function follow these simple instructions that Xuzz wrote plus some random guy added a bit at the start

if you realy want to be clean and functional :
1- hex edit you keys.bin the offset 0x00000013, add(=insert) 1 byte between 0x00000013 and 0x00000014 with the value 20(the new 0x00000014 = 20(=in binary 00100000))
2- REMOVE the offset 0x00000100 normaly it's an zero value (00)

after follow one of this method posted on top by icefire (depend on ours operating system):

quoted:

Windows:
1) Start -> Run -> cmd
2) Find the drive letter of your SD card, for example, F:.
3) Type this, replace the X with the drive letter: cd X:\
4) Type this: copy /b nand.bin + keys.bin nand.bin
5) ?????
6) PROFIT!!!

*nix (Mac and Linux):
1) Open a terminal.
2) Find the mount point of your SD card (/media/VOLUMENAME often on Linux, /Volumes/VOLUMENAME on Mac)
3) Type this, replacing MOUNTPOINT with the mount point of your SD card: cd MOUNTPOINT
4) Type this: cat nand.bin keys.bin > nand.bin
5) ?????
6) PROFIT!!!

But if your lazy like me and cba to HEX edit the key.bin i found this tool on GBAFAIL!

http://www.mediafire.com/?mgl5z4jguqw

Here is the instructions from the original creator of the tool (redia):

here is a small application that does it all for you.

it will check the keys.bin and patch it if needed.
it will modify the nand.bin if available
it will also give you the unique console ID contained in the keys.bin
and it write a log file to make sure you can keep track of what has been done.

if the keys.bin is not valid a new one will be created named "keys-fixed.bin" so the original is not modified
the nand.bin IS modified, but only the keys part.. so if you need to revert you simply need to delete this part.

the only thing you need to do is to copy in the application folder
1. the keys.bin.
2. the nand.bin. not mandatory, put it there only if you want to modify it
I've just copied all of the entries from the original post (just like I always do when I'm too lazy to think, hehe!).

periodicpsp is a full Periodic table of the elements that contains 14 different pieces of information for each element. This also includes the Lanthanoids and Actinoids series. - No installer

Chunk Munch v0.6

A simple yet addictive game, just point and click on two or more connected and identical 'chunks' to 'munch' them up.

Changes:
  • New Logo! Thnx Faine!
  • added a 'munch' sound to the WingedVayla skin
  • Loading screen now shows after some basics have been initialized, instead of waiting for EVERYTHING.
  • Added (bad) music and sound support (Expect samples to be either played too fast or too slow (Currently using 22050 Hz, samples of this speed should work fine))
    • Supports all types SDL_Mixer supports, if it doesn't read the file, try removing the extension.
  • Moved 'quit' and 'back' buttons to lower left
  • To exit the game press any key (except a or b), this prevents the game from closing the screen when you are frantically clicking the screen (a.k.a. monkey proof bugfix)
  • Added an option to no longer wait for movement (animation) to stop, enabling fast clicking mode.
  • Fixed: Chrash when: No skin name was defined in XML. Occurs when saved with default skin, or loading a old XML file.
  • Repositioned the menu's a bit.
  • Fixed: Miscalculation of the field size, preventing the game from checking all rows correctly for the end conditions.
  • Removed southpark skin from the install package, still need to create a webpage to add all the future skins.

PSN License Manager v0.40

http://img.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/130320/pspstore.png?551515

As the name suggests, this is a PlayStation Network License Manager for the PSP. Many people create accounts for each PlayStation Store in many regions to play some games only available on some regions.

This however, could mean overwriting of licenses from each region and effectively using up another of the five limited downloads Sony allows.

That is why this exists, it allows the easy and efficient backup of your licenses from each region right from your PSP without connecting to the computer to do it.

Here's another update from the Triiforce committee Nicksasa, TheLemonMan and WiiPower. An open source channel loader which will have support for nand emulation, patches, and possibly ocarina.

Requisites:
  • a cIOS installed, rev7 or higher should work (playing from nand emu will require a cIOS with nand emu, but that's not implemented yet)

Known bugs:
  • (Not a bug, but people complain Some VC/WiiWare titles from the wrong region can only be played with "Default Video Mode" and is in wrong colors then, and maybe has a jumping screen
  • Some VC/WiiWare freezes with a black screen when started with certain video modes. The reason for this is still totally unclear.

GUI WAD Manager 1.5 pre release

nIxx has released a new version of his modified version of Waninkoko's Wad Manager. WAD Manager is an application that allows you to install and uninstall WAD packages. The application displays all the available WAD packages in a storage device to choose which (un) install.

I have to say since i've tried it it's pretty nice, One feature I do particularly like is SMB, one thing I think needs adding is a 'batch' install, pick you're selection and install automatically, also maybe merge Wad Creator into it.

IrShell Patch - btcnfpatch.prx for CFW 5.50

So here it is..
For those who don't know what it is, this is the patch that you need to install in order to play ISOS and specially to improve stability to IrShell on CFW 5.50.

Note 1: PSX games will only work with flash POP Ver (won't work on PSP's 2000 with MHU though). With Popsloader you'll get an error.
Note 2: It is only for firmwares 5.50 MHU or 5.50 GEN-A on PSP 1000 or 2000. -Tested on both. (It will not work with GEN-B.)
Note 3: This utility touches a file installed by CFWe in flash0 so USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Make sure you have:
- IrShell 5.0 installed.
- Plugins in game.txt are disabled (If not you'll probably get a black screen when running the prx. Just do a hard reset if this happens. Then try the patch again after disabling the game.txt plugins. Kinda looks like a pain but.. You only need to run this once!).
- Replaced the provided IRSHELL folder in your memory stick.

Instructions: (same as the old IrShell patches)
- Run IrShell
- Open Directory View and go to ms0:/IRSHELL/PATCH/5.50/
- Run btcnfpatch.prx
- Press X to start patching
- Wait a few seconds and you're done (you should see the following screenshot on your PSP if the update is successful).
- You can now re-enable your plugins in game.txt.

HackMii Installer v0.3

Here comes Team Twiizers with another update and fixes on HackMii Installer now on version 0.3.

Yay, finally another release!

Version 0.2 of our installer (the BootMii beta2 release) is almost 3 month old, and we finally got around to push out some fixes.

We hoped to have some nice additions for HBC done for this release, but unfortunately those are not yet ready for prime time. We didn’t want to delay some fixes to the installer and BootMii any further, so we hope you enjoy this one – even if HBC remains unchanged compared to BootMii beta 2.

Changes:
  • Saner selection of IOSs for the installer itself and the installed HBC
  • BootMii will now install on Wiis with bad blocks in the boot2 area
  • Fixed some hangs when rebooting Starlet
  • Improved the SD card compability
  • Increased the backup/restore speed for some SD cards, but decreased it for others :P
  • Fix GPIO input for all Wiis
  • Wavebird support
  • Fixed a silly bug where NAND backups were left as 0 byte files
  • Keys are now saved to SD as /bootmii/keys.bin too

Triiforce Beta 4

[aaa.jpeg]

Nicksasa, TheLemonMan and WiiPower updated TriiForce to beta 4. Triiforce is an open source channel loader which will have support for NAND emulation, patches, and possibly ocarina.

Requirements for TriiForce:
- a cIOS installed, rev7 or higher should work

Requirements for nand emu:
- cIOS rev14

Q: Is the nand emu dangerous?
A: It *should* not be dangerous, but since this is the 1st app to really use it, noboy can say that for sure. If you don't have BootMii as boot2, wait until enough guinea pigs tested it.

Q: What is TriiForce?
A: It's a VC/WiiWare launcher that launches channels that are installed on nand. Support for nand emu is planned, support for 4.0 sd menu won't be implemented. Coders are: Nicksasa, The Lemon Man and WiiPower.

Q: What's to test NOW?(will be updated with each new version)
A: Game compatibilty, not correct displayed names, games missing in the list, glitches. In beta 4 please test the nand emu and if the savegames are handled correctly. Please report enough information in the 1st post already and not after 10 Q&A.

  • The number of entries read from the database.txt has been increased from 1000 to 10000.
