System Menu 4.2

Heads up to the Wii homebrew community! Nintendo has released a new system menu update for the Nintendo Wii, and by the look of things, this one's not gonna be pretty.

According to reports, almost everything is blocked by the new system menu including Bannerbomb, BootMii, the Homebrew Channel and all version of cIOS. The recently released Indiana Pwns works but you cannot do much with it. The new update now also uses IOS70. All the versions of BC, MIOS and the chain store are also updated.

We strongly suggest not to update your Wii through Nintendo if you still want to enjoy your homebrews.

    Dop-IOS v8

Dop-IOS lets you download and install any IOS from Nintendo servers. You can also apply the trucha bug to them.

    Changes:
    • Updated to all 4.2 new IOS.
    • Gamecube pad support.

    Brick risk?
Yes. Any application that modifies NAND can brick your console.
Be careful when you are going to 'dop' the IOS that your System Menu uses. A power cut during installation can brick your Wii.
Also, if you are using Preloader and you 'dop' IOS60, remember to reinstall Preloader after 'doping' otherwise you will brick (you will still be able to boot HBC via Preloader, you just wont be able to load the System Menu).

Ok guys, Revision 432 just got released. Here's the full changelog:

    Dop-IOS MOD v4

Dop-IOS MOD is a modification of the application Dop-IOS that allows you to choose which IOS you would like to use to install other IOSs (with the trucha bug if you like).

While the original Dop-IOS let you install other IOSs, it used IOS 2491 to do it. As IOS 249 is primarily a piracy IOS (which is in some cases is itself illegal) many people felt a certain resentment toward it's exclusivity on which the authors have no comment.
A better solution for all users would've been to allow users to select which IOS they use to install other IOSs. Enter: Dop-IOS MOD
Since fulfilling it's original purpose, Dop-IOS MOD has brought many new and improved features to it's Dop-IOS base (or "core" if you will) including Gamecube controller support.

    Changes:
    • Fixed bugs preventing the gamecube controller from working in a couple of places
    • Many changes (improvements) to the Dop-IOS base

This application has the ability to brick your Wii if misused. If this occurs, YOU are responsible because you used the application. The authors take no responsibility for any harm done to your Wii by this application.

    Indiana Pwns

     Indiana Pwns iconIndiana Pwns icon

The Indiana Pwns is a safe, public way to enable homebrew on a Wii without hardware modification. The Indiana Pwns is achieved by playing a hacked game save for LEGO Indiana Jones which executes a homebrew application from an external SD card. Examples of such homebrew .elf or .dol files can be found on the Homebrew applications page. The Indiana Pwns was created by Team Twiizers

Extremely short instructions: put this savegame on your Wii (if you have one on there already that you want to keep, back it up first!), start the game, walk to the “art room” (find some walkthrough on the intertubes if you cannot find it), look at the second character, enjoy!
Kudos to “roto” for finding the original buffer overflow, and many thanks for doing lots of testing!

    hextwelve

hextwelve is a simple Host Controller Driver for both Wiis OHCI controllers, based on Team Twiizers mini/ppcskel (aka BootMii; since all hardware can be accessed directly from the PowerPC due to the AHPBROT hack, we just built on ppcskel and didn't touch any MINI code). As the original goal of the project is just to faciliate the (IOS-independent) usage of an USB keyboard, it currently supports only control and interrupt transfers, which lays the groundwork for supporting other HID class devices as well.

TxtoPS V : PSP Homebrew Text Editor

Don’t take notes and hot girls’ phone numbers the traditional way, that’s lame. Your PSP is: the new pen and paper. And as far as PSP text editors go, this one ain’t bad with its intuitive interface and smooth visuals. Going green, taking out paper companies and pen manufacturers one at a time: dangee’s TxtoPS V.

    TxtoPSP V Screenshot

One thing to note: TxtoPS doesn’t work on 5.50 GEN-B, not on my PSP-2000 anyway. However, as written in the read me, only M33 custom firmwares are supported. And it indeed works great on my PSP-1000 running 5.00 M33-6. Oh – it’s got IR keyboard support too. But out-of-the-box, my palmOne Universal Wireless Keyboard didn’t work. It’s not piKey. IRDA support and other things of importance are documented in the read me.

    Wii64 teaser

I've had the chance to test out the latest build of Wii64 and let me tell you I'm impressed. From the new GUI, to options, to the compatibility and game speed. This is one emulator to be expected. And you should see this new version soon on TehSkeen as an exclusive release. Here are some notes from the authors.

    -Brakken

"We've put a lot of work into the core between all the work that's been put into the dynamic recompiler and conserving memory (mostly to have more room for the generated code). There are still issues which will be resolved in subsequent releases, but we've worked hard on making our first beta release something we're proud of and we hope you'll be excited about it too."- tehpola

"After nearly two years of coding, bug fixing, and testing, I think we're all proud to announce we're just about ready for a release. Beta 1 will mark the years of hard work which have been infused into the emulator in our spare time, I hope you all enjoy what you experience, and just remember, this is only beta 1 "- emu_k1d1d

"In preparation for our first beta release of cube64/wii64, we worked hard to make improvements to the graphics and also to develop a better menu. We're proud of the result, and we hope you enjoy this release. Please look forward to more good things to come." -sepp256

USB Loaders vrs Modchips by Brakken

    Preface

This article is about the differences and benefits of using a USB Loader vrs a Modchip in your Nintendo Wii. USB Loaders are used by Wii software hackers to launch their legal backup collection with iusing an external hard drive whereas Modchips are used to launch legal backups using burnt discs. Both come with their own benefits. So let’s take a look at them

    USB Loaders

USB Loaders are used by tech savvy Wii users who have a good understanding on how to use unsigned code on their console. Unsigned code is code never intended by to run and is normally executed by use of the Homebrew Channel. To use a USB Loader one must understand how to run this unsigned code as they must install a CIOS (Custom IOS) which in most cases requires a separate program to install the CIOS.

Most modchip users have no idea what a CIOS is let alone how to run unsigned code. Needless to say it can be a complicated process for people that do not know what they are doing. It is also a risky process – there is a chance of “bricking” (damaging your Wii beyond repair if you don’t know what you’re doing).

USB Loaders for the most part are compatible with most games, but there are games like Guitar Hero that won’t let you use your guitar without the additional installation of more IOS files. Guitar Hero isn’t the only game – there are lots of games you must install IOS files for them to run. And you’re basically left on your own scouring forums to find the right IOS to install.

    Modchips

Modchips are hardware. They require you to physically attach them to the Wii’s DVD-ROM drive. You do this by soldering. A lot of people can already solder, but there are a lot of customers that get their Wii modded with a modchip by a 3rd party. Remember the IOS problem for USB Loaders? Well, 99% of modchip users won’t have to worry about finding the right IOS (like the even know what the hell an IOS is) because they keep they Wii up-to-date.

want to have your translation included into the program, mail me.

    !Important Note!

I decided to release this version and head over to the next one.
Some of the new features are untested! Use them on your own risk and be sure
to have BootMii/boot2 with a NAND Backup!
I'm currently working on my own wad class that will be used in the next version
instead of external apps. I hope to get rid of problems that prevent some
features to work for some people (at least everything worked on my 3 pc's...)

    Changelog:

    Version 0.3
    • From-to sizes / blocks for big Wads (it was minimum size before)
    • System Titles will be shown (IOS / System Menu)

    • Export list to file (txt and csv, same file with different extension)
    • Added 'Recently Opened' folders menu
    • Changing of Channel Title (Displayed when holding cursor over a channel on wii) -> You can also see the title for other languages by clicking 'Change Channel Title'. Only the english title is displayed in the column.

    • Rename Wad files
    • Delete Wad files
    • Multilanguage (English + German)
    • .NET Framework 3.5 needed for full funcionality

    Disclaimer:

Editing WAD files can result in a brick of your Wii.
Only use these features if you have a bricksafe Wii, meaning either Preloader or
BootMii/boot2 is installed, and if you know what you're doing.
Also, your Wad files could be destroyed, so be sure to have a backup.

This application comes without any express or implied warranty.

    Pimp My Wii 1.0

Attila site administrator of Wii-info.fr has released a homebrew app called "Pimp My Wii".
    Quote:
Here is "Pimp My Wii", an homebrew that will install missing and outdated titles from your Wii console.
A "title" can be an IOS or your Wii version. You can update your Wii securely using this homebrew and you can too update your Wii Shop to have the same advantages than the Wii 4.1 without these disadvantages.
The homebrew is displayed automatically in english or french depending of your Wii's language.
    Quote:
    ----------------------------------------------------
    --------Correction of encountered problems----------
    ----------------------------------------------------
Here is a lit of common problems that you could have on your Wii (even on latest version) and the solutions that "Pimp My Wii" will do.

    - Black screen at loading of dvd games :
Missing IOS -> Install those IOS (patching them)

    - The Wii asks for an upgrade when inserting games :
Old IOS -> Update those IOS (patching them).

    - A modified game (trucha signed) can't load on the disc channel with my modchip :
The IOS used by game has the trucha bug corrected -> Install a new IOS and patch the bug inside.
The IOS used by system menu has the trucha bug corrected -> Install a new IOS and patch the bug inside.

    - The preloader and other homebrew does not work :
The IOS36 has the ES_Identify patched -> Install a new IOS 36 and patch the bug.

    - I got reading problems with my backup launcher :
Old cIOS installed (older than rev14) -> Ask user to update this.

    - No SD menu, no latest fonctionnality :
Old version of Wii (system menu, by example 3.2) -> Upgrade to 4.1 (but patching everything) for more compatibility, fonctionnality.

    - The Wii Shop ask me to update :
Old version of Wii Shop (older than v16) -> Upgrade the newest version.

    - I don't have any IOS that has the trucha bug (if you have a virgin Wii) :
The homebrew put the trucha bug back in IOS15

    - I can't install the Hackmii Install, because i have some kind of cIOSCorp :
You need a unmodified IOS 34 -> Install this IOS.

!!!!!!!!!Leave the parameters by default if you don't know what you do ! A bad choice of "hacks" could leave your system unstable!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ----------------------------------------------------
    -----------------Questions / answers----------------
    ----------------------------------------------------

    - Does it works without internet ? / I got errors during download, what can i do ?
It works without internet, you just need to put necessary wad files to the root of the SD card, or of a USB device in FAT32.
Follow this (french) tutoriel to get those files : http://www.wii-info.fr/article-53-co...ios-chaine.htm
The necessary IOS are those, in their latest versions : 9,12,13,14,15,17,21,22,28,31,33,34,35,36,37,38,53, 55,56,57,60,61
To update the System Menu, you need the file RVL-WiiSystemmenu-vX.wad, where X is 448 for 4.1J, 449 for 4.1U, 450 for 4.1E and 454 for 4.1K.
For Wii Shop, you need RVL-Shopping-v16.wad

    - I got the preloader, will it work ?
If you are not in 4.1 and if you accept the installation of this system menu, you will need to reinstall the preloader and the specifics hacks to this version. Follow this (french) tutoriel to install and configure preloader : http://www.wii-info.fr/article-52-in...-preloader.htm

    - I have the preloader and i got "system files are corrupted", what can I do ?
If you have the preloader, you must patch "ES_Identify" on the IOS used by this. For Wii 4.x, it's IOS60, else it's IOS 30. Leave the parameters by default if you don't know what you do.

    - I have a custom theme, will it stay ?
If you change your Wii version, you will lose all themes and you will need to reinstall a compatible theme with the version of System Menu you have.

    - Should I upgrade my console to 4.1 ? I thougt I must stay to 3.2 ?
If you use this program to put your console to 4.1, you will have exactly the same advantages as a 3.2 Wii, but you will have the improvements of 4.1. You won't have any disadvantages to put your Wii to 4.1.

    - Should I install all IOS asked ?
It is recommanded to install IOS indicated as "not present" and IOS 30, 34, 36 and 60. You should also leave parameters by default. If you install at least those, you will avoid most of problems.

    - The other IOS, are they useless ?
For other IOS, patching them help launching Trucha Signed gamed on Wii with a modchip.

    - I got a message saying that my Custom IOS is outdated, what can I do ?
Follow this (french) tutoriel to upgrade your cIOS : http://www.wii-info.fr/article-40-in...custom-ios.htm

    Moving On?

    Another dev moves on...

WADder has been fun. From the beginning, starting as a simple AutoIt hack to a total for four rewrites, I think I’ve put in plenty of time. However, I think this time has come to an end, as I haven’t turned on my Wii in months, and don’t think that I can continue. Sorry guys.
Here’s the latest (and last I’ll work on) code from WADder, all uploaded in a nice ZIP here.
If this goes down, PLEASE contact me to get it up again. Email is the best way, ice fire at xuzz (doooot) net. Not that hard, but please don’t get the spambots on it.
I think I’m going to move onto iPhone development. While I still prefer Python to Objective-C, its not a bad language and Cocoa is a very nice API, if a little controlling. Anyway, look out for releases from “icefire”, “Xuzz”, or any other nicks you guys know me by.

Here’s a short list of people that have helped me/WADder/MyMenu/etc along the way:

    Original Folks:
    • djdynamite123 (first response to the original WADder idea thread!)
    • Mrkinator (original gfx guy, admin)
    • IronMask (really, wtf happened to you?)
    • djtaz (awesome hosting with no downtime, domain name, THANKS!)
    • deba94 (showed me IRC, cool guy, basis of WADder 1.x in his tutorial)
    • wichoxp (cool guy, original tutorial for WADder 1.x in spanish, etc)
    • Wiisel (fun, banners, help, etc)

Then, the “newer” crowd here on the site:
    • Jacol (lots of help, some coding, support, admin, etc)
    • Tempus (humor, TPL, translation of shit)
    • Wilsoff (inspiration for WADder 2.x — even if you didn’t know that)
    • All the beta testers!
    • All the other WADder.net users!

Also, can’t forget the HACKERCHANNEL crowd:
    • megazig (zomg awesome codez)
    • SquidMan (teach me C , Zetsubou, benzin, etc)
    • comex (benzin, exploitz, etc)
    • Matt_P (BannerPlayer, also teach me C)
    • crediar (help with mymenuify)
    • Extrems (hosting!)
    • Galaxy| (NUS obsession, Wiimposter idea)

    Others:
    • SoftMii guys (Jizmo, Skarface, etc — yes, I know I hated softmii for a while)
    • DigityDogs (fun, unbanning, theming)
    • marcan (lulz, fun, arguements)
    • bushing (unbanning — thnx again)
    • Everyone else I forgot. Yes, that means you, the person staring at this in disbelief I forgot them. Sorry. Maybe if you ask real nice I’ll add you

    daedalusx64 - Image 1

The DaedalusX64 team is back to release a new update for the Nintendo 64 emulator for the PSP. Notable features of the latest alpha build of DaedalusX64 includes -- removed CFW 3.71 support, reduced Slim RAM cache for texels, reduced intrafont memory usage and some more code cleanups.

    Changes:
    • Debug console should not be initialized in Release mode - Salvy
    • Reverted Change to GBI2_ModifyVtx from Rev 416 (Fixes a couple titles that broke) - Salvy
    • Removed CFW 3.71 support (We require higher firmware anyway, fixes a few warnings)
    • Properly defined the FlatShadeDisabled hack and Added to options on Debug Build
    • Reduced Slim RAM cache for texels to same size as Phat (Large Cache is no longer needed and doesn't improve performance and can be used elsewhere)

    • Reduced intrafont memory usage (Used low mem font options)
    • Changed default deadzone to 28 to work better with "Well loved" PSPs
    • Cleaned-up more compiler warnings

Cue Player 0.05 for FLAC & CUE Rips

I know a few peeps in this boat — the flac ripped / cue generated boat — myself included. Sakya mentions cue sheet support may be featured in the next LightMP3 release; however, in the meantime, the in between time, anyone who enjoys FLAC (lossless audio) tracks laid out in cue sheet format and just can’t wait should have a look-see at Liberty’s Cue Player. It’s simple and it gets the job done, for now.
Controls (press & hold for 0.5 seconds):
    • TRIANGLE: Go to file selection screen and stop player. It will automatically BOOKMARK now.
    • CIRCLE: Pause / unpause player. DO NOT SEEK WHEN PAUSED. It is buggy.
    • CROSS: Go to the first track.
    • SQUARE: Load bookmark.
    • L-TRIGGER: Previous track.
    • R-TRIGGER: Next track.

    Binary and source included.

    Wiimote Football! LOL!

The longer you stare the funnier it gets! HAHA!

    Perfect!

Just what i needed, a Wii-mote that affords not only more weight but also less grip! Thereby allowing it to hit my TV at a greater rate of speed!

This thing is full of win!!

Hey, idiotic software designers and hardware manufacturers. Video games, even sports video games, are supposed to even the playing field for us non-jock types.
The CTA Digital Football for Wii may look like some cheap, plastic container for your Wiimote. But it's so much more than that. This product is a manifestation of the way video games are going. Even in the digital realm, physical prowess will soon champion smarts, attention span and the sheer ass power to plant on a couch for days at a time. In the not so distant future, your real self may need to learn to throw a football so your virtual self can keep up.
And while the CTA Digital Football doesn't appear to be for sale just yet, let it serve as warning. It's only a matter of time before we're all getting wedgies during a minigame in Wii Sports.

    NUS Downloader Folders Renamer Tool

Erik Spyder has released a new PC based tool for the Nintendo Wii, with this tool you can easily rename folders created by NUS Downloader.

NusFoldersRenamer automatically copies the contents in the correct folder.

This tool works with any valid folder created automatically by NUS Downloader.
For example, some apps need the files in the \00000001\00000024\v1042 format instead of the 0000000100000024v1042 format NUSD puts them in. So this is great for offline installs of cIOS and what not.

The author cannot be held responsible for any damage this program may cause!
    • Microsoft Framework 2.0 is required.
    • (Extract NusFoldersRenamer in NUS Downloader folder)

    N64 Theme

    WiiWiiWiiWiiWiiWiiWii

Here's another Theme from Docsamson. No details specified and video provided so please check the post below.
"I hope you all like this theme. Somebody else requested I make this theme. They wanted me to keep it kinda simple. Which was actually pretty hard for me to do. But overall it came out pretty sweet. It was actually a lot of fun to make. I absolutely love all the game cartridges all over this theme. Especially the envelop mask and letter.
It's got all the different colored controllers for the cursors. And that spinning n64 logo for the channels. Oh, and it probably has the best looking loading icon out of any theme I've done. It came out really awesome. It makes me want to work on a NES theme next."
